About me

Hi, my name is Krystyna Jankowska and I am a fully qualified and experienced mentor, coach and a therapist. I help people who have experienced traumatic life events to overcome anxiety and build fulfilling, happy lives.

Read it and believe in yourself

I grew up in 1970s. My childhood was extremely traumatic and in order to move forward with my life I had to bury this trauma inside me. My mother was mostly unavailable due to a chronic mental illness; often on the verge of killing herself. She was frequently hospitalised, which led to me having abandonment issues and intense fears about my survival. My father was a predator and a sadist. Both of my parents were narcissistic. I was severely abused as a child and felt very lonely. My basic needs were unmet. I was very scared of people and life in general.

When I went to school I put on a fake smile, and I pretended that I was happy. I was a class clown – happy and bubbly, as I figured that if I would make people laugh, they would like me. I wanted to hide my wounds behind that smile so no one could notice them, including myself. I was an excellent actress; I was even able to fool myself!

At 18 I began to notice a deep sadness inside me; I had friends, but I felt very lonely and disconnected from them. I discovered that I was in great emotional pain. The smile had faded, and I decided to get help. I started attending a therapy. I desperately needed to understand what was ‘wrong’ with me. I wanted to make sense of my experience. After years of intense treatment, I began to discover the truth about myself and what had happened during my childhood. Gradually, I was able to put together the pieces of my past and acknowledge the hurt I suffered as child.

The therapy process has been very challenging; I have cried many tears and screamed at the top of my lungs, along the way. But I have found ‘the light at the end of my tunnel’ and I have truly moved forward with my life. I believe that all situations can be improved and that we can be happy despite our past experiences. Therapy saved my life and today I am proud to be able to help others process their past and overcome obstacles, helping them to be happy and free.
Not all stories are like mine but every single-story matters. Whether you are looking at the whole of your journey, the present or any other issue; (no matter how small) – I look forward to hearing from you and getting you on Your Counselling Path.

I have lived and worked in the UK for over 15 years, supporting adults with various mental health difficulties. My realisation that a holistic approach would be more effective led me to study human psychology at Greenwich University and train as a Psychodynamic Therapist. I have since broadened my approach through further study and clinical experience, developing my own therapeutic style.

With over 5 years of clinical practice and 1000+hours working with clients of all walks of life, ages, cultures, religions, genders, and sexual identities, I am confident in my ability to make a positive impact on people’s lives.

I take great fulfilment in knowing that I am making a valuable difference in people’s lives and helping them lead happier, more successful lives.

Professional Relationship

I aim to form a strong professional relationship with my clients, built on trust and firm boundaries. Together, we will explore the roots of symptoms and their impact, leading to a better understanding and approach for managing or relieving symptoms. This new awareness will help us to improve your life in a daily basis.
